The old egg factory

The old egg factory

The old egg factory is a cool urbex location.

Another urbex photography shoot in an abandoned factory. This absolutely gorgeous decay control panel is part of a place called ‘egg mine’.

The old egg factory

Old floor tiles where in bad shape and a lot of control panel parts on the floor.

Love these very long storage hall viewpoints, there is a minimal amount of light pouring trough these windows.

The old egg urbex factory

Don’t you just love this light effect. Truly a magnificent urbex location.

Let’s see what is behind that door, looks like where going to this egg factory office part.

Yes, we hit main office entry with lots of windows.

Working from home? Guess not, work lies just around the corner.

Seminary burned down

This old seminary burned down to the ground and became an urbex photography location.

Seminary burned down

Some of the windows where holding on strong.

Complete devastation

Seminary burned down

Nature is already taken over the building.

The old stairwell and it’s gorgeous windows feld majestic.

Water is pouring into the rooms and gave very nice reflections.

People have been watching outside from this same spot…

Mold was growing and taking over the rooms as well.

Excuse me, do you know where I can find the restroom?

This specific scene did feel like a movie, the curtain silently waves on the incoming wind.

Walking outside I could not resist taking a photo of the stairs again.

Dirty factory in Liege

Dirty factory in Liege

This Dirty factory in Liege was absolutely one of my most coldest and dirtiest Urbex factories until now.

Dirty factory in Liege

The weather was extremely cold for the time of year and the sky looked cloudy and sad. The factory is located in a part of Liege where you don’t pick up positive vibes, to be honest.

Very big machines, several floors deep. Amazing, really.

This massive control panel really showed a lot of decay. I always imagine myself that people worked here, probably their whole lives.

Storage hall with a nice reflection.

Let’s take a look at the offices, going up the stairs first until we arrive at the ‘penthouse’ level.

Here we are, office hallway with a lot of decay as well.

This felt like another planet, the cold, the dirt, the loneliness.

Urbex Redemptorists church

This Urbex Redemptorists church was on my top 3 wish list for a while. I finally got the chance to wander around for hours.

Urbex Redemptorists church

The church is abandoned since late 2000’s but in very good shape.

If you spend some time in a beautiful building like this you notice that the light is different and can change every minute.

Like this one, the light was absolutely gorgeous!

If you look at old masters paintings I can truly admire their use of the light. Sometimes I try to look at an object like they did, follow the light, the lines, and place the object in the center of attention.

Going up to the bell tower I noticed the stained glass reflection in the ladder.

Stained glass windows do give the most wonderful light effects.

Wander around the hallway

Stairwell after stairwell, the most fantastic architectural master pieces.

Look at that high contrast, beautiful isn’t it.

Belgium ghost town Doel

Belgium ghost town Doel

Abandoned village in Belgium in black and white

Belgium ghost town Doel

Imagine, your entire life you lived in a village, a village called Doel in Belgium. The village is locked between the nuclear power plant and the river Schelde, which represents the Port of Antwerp, a big industrial ship sail route.

And then….the city of Antwerp says you have to leave the village because they want to enlarge the river Schelde to accommodate wider and deeper shipping routes. Let that sink in, you have to leave the village where generations lived their lives. Mind you, still, a number of families are living in this ghost town Doel, please respect their privacy.

The road to the Doel nucluar power plant.

Gij zijt mijn doel

Translates into ‘You are my goal’

When taking this image I did think about The Beatles, could they have passed on this sidewalk?

In the backyard there was a little barn. Do you spot the stuffed animals in the water? Lovely and sad as well, I did think about the kid who actually played with these. These stuffed animals feel abondonded like the entire village of Doel and it’s former citizens.

Driving towards the gas station I left my house in a mess, I have to think about a paint job I guess.

Finally, I did reach the local gas station, but wait….it’s no longer in service. Thanks, Avia! Then let’s take the bus.

Just outside the ghost town of Doel, there was this bus stop, so let’s wait for the next one.

Antwerpen Centraal

Antwerpen-Centraal railway station

Antwerpen-Centraal railway station in black and white

Antwerpen-Centraal railway station

This beautiful train station building was constructed between 1895 and 1905. It’s an absolute epic building amongst Belgium’s railway stations.

Antwerp centraal railway station

In 2014 the magazine Mashable awarded Antwerpen-Centraal railway station the first place for the most beautiful railway station in the world.

The architectural perspective is awesome, with windows and natural light versus the light pillars. Truly eyeball art!

What do you see? A pigeon or a hand? Or both….

The main entrace and it’s wide stairs feel majestic.

Even the steel construction itself is a piece of art. And looking at it, a lot of glass is used to have as much natural light as possible. Remember, at the time they build this electricity was not a commodity.

Fort de la Chartreuse in black and white

Fort de la Chartreuse in black and white urbex photography

Fort de la Chartreuse in black and white gives a beautiful drama to the already cool Urbex photography location.

The fort was built by the Dutch between 1817 and 1823 to defend the city.

Fort de la Chartreuse in black and white

The entrance of the first main building is creepy, which could very well be a film set.

Urbex photography

Walking along the very long hallway’s nature is almost eating the building, trees are growing inside the building.

Every room has it’s own set of windows and therefore the light in every room is slightly different.

As you can see, these twin looking windows gives a window to nature.

A very demolished bathroom didn’t give a lot of privacy to the visitor back in the days.

Let’s enter the second building, it’s a small one and almost absorbed by nature as well.

A few years from now the entire building will colaps.

The light on the graffiti gives a very nice perspective.

Let’s move to the dungeon of Fort de la Chartreuse.

There is always light at the end of the tunnel.

Fantastic light from the outside poring trough the windows.

Stairs crumbling until nature takes back, where it belongs.

The central staircase already lost its roof.
Fort de la Chartreuse in Black and White is a wonderful Urbex photography location.

Reading between the lines het doorkijkkerkje Borgloon

is a truly magnificent piece of art.
The design of this artwork, also called ‘doorkijkkerkje‘, is done by a duo, architect Gijs van Vaerenbergh and artist PieterJan Gijs.

Reading between the lines in Borgloon

The village of Borgloon with the church aligned with the artwork church.

You can see the steel plates and how the artwork is constructed.

Beautiful symmetric and transparent view of the church tower.

Reading between the lines is a place to visit! The message for me, don’t take life too seriously. Go visit het doorkijk kerkje!

On the same day I visit “Reading between the lines”, I also went to the beautiful Urbex location Fort de la Chartreuse in the city of Liegé.
